Tylko’s first physical store is a sequence of rooms rather than a single sales floor, and light helps you read it.

After a decade of selling only online, Tylko opened its first permanent space in Berlin. Rotterdam-based studio CLOUD (Paul Cournet) designed it as a series of connected rooms: part café, part sample library, part salon and studio. Light was central to CLOUD’s concept from the start. A luminous ceiling defines the first room, and a giant glowing balloon sphere fills the last.

Our role was lighting consultancy. We handled the technical coordination of the luminous ceiling so it performs exactly as designed, and proposed discreet technical lighting that stays out of the way of the main gestures., highlighting the firniture at the same time. We also washed the red corridors between the rooms in red light. These thresholds mark the pauses between the sales spaces and set the rhythm of moving through the store.
